Mailman Patent Prints
On October 22, 1895 Augustus Hauss invented the catch mail pouch.
He wanted to greatly increase the durability of the regulation mail-pouch and to fasten the rings on it so that they will not be constantly pulling or tearing out.
The mailing box was patented by George Owen on April 10, 1906.
A convenient and novel construction of a swinging lid for the bulk-mail compartment is among the minor objects added.
Lawrence Varin patented the mail carrying wagon on September 26, 1905.
By the use of this improved carriers wagon the delivery, collection and the general handling of the mail will be greatly facilitated and may be carried out in much less time than is required at the present time.
Edward Calahan patented the mailbox on April 26, 1904.
This invention relates particularly to improvements in mailboxes for rural service, to provide a mailbox of this description that will be of simple construction, inexpensive, having-no parts liable to get out of order, and so arranged that it may be easily opened and closed.
