In Chinese culture, dragons are an extremely important symbol, represented extensively in art, poetry and literature. Symbolically, the dragon represents the emperor’s role in mediating between heaven and earth. Dragons are the divine ruler of water; lakes, rivers, oceans and most importantly rain. Worshiping dragons will keep the earth moist, crops abundant and people comfortably cool.
Traditional descriptions of dragons are the head of a camel, horns of a deer, ox ears, tiger is paws, eagle is claws, Satan is eyes and a long beard. The body is snake-like with the belly of a frog and the scales of a koi fish. In legends, a dragon first appeared in the sky at the birth of the 1st Emperor, forever linking them.
